The Postmark Adventures of Kelvin Kindahl In 1997 PMCC member Kelvin Kindahl, #4131, and his wife, Ann Vanderburgh, left their home in Easthampton, Mass., bound for an adventure. Ann had long dreamed of walking the entire 2,160-mile Appalachian Trail, from Georgia to Maine.Kelvin agreed to accompany her - if he could collect postmarks along the way. During the day, while Ann walked the trail, Kelvin zigzagged his way across 16 states and two Canadian provinces, stopping at more than 1,800 post offices and collecting 3,178 different postal cancellations. With only a few exceptions, they met at a designated place each evening. Here are excerpts from the diary Kelvin kept while "Postmarking the Appalachian Trail", first published in the Postmark Collectors Club monthly newsletter, the Bulletin, and now available here on the internet. The episodes chapters are noted below, as they appeared in the Bulletin. The pages include some of the post marks collected along the way, or see the collection on the gallery page.
